Mattison will oversee management of the company and the strategic direction of its media properties, which also include Billboard, Adweek, Back Stage, the Film Expo Group and the Clio Awards. She replaces Richard Beckman, whose departure was announced June 29.
“I have worked closely with Dottie over the last year and cannot imagine a better CEO for Prometheus,” said James Finkelstein, chairman of Prometheus Global Media. “She not only has a tremendous business background and extraordinary leadership qualities, but she also brings a deep understanding of media. I am thrilled she has accepted the position and look forward to working with her as a colleague and friend.”
Said Mattison: “Prometheus has strong brands, broad audiences and partners and the ability to deliver engaging and compelling content. We’ve already created new lines of business like the Adweek Young Executive Lab conference series, the Billboard Summer Beats Concert Series and the mobile apps for The Hollywood Reporter. Prior to Guggenheim Partners — where Mattison has been responsible for driving growth at the brand and consumer companies in the company’s portfolio, including Prometheus — Mattison was senior vp and general manager of the Apparel Global Merchandising Center of Wal-Mart Stores. There, she oversaw the company’s portfolio of private apparel brands and was responsible for cross-category entertainment merchandising programs. She also held posts as vp and chief merchant for Walmart.com, as well as head of the company’s Sustainability Textiles Network initiative.
