Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, in London for a week-long visit, have spoken out against Moscow’s English-language TV channel RT, formerly known as Russia Today.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, the two band members said that those in the west who consider the channel an alternative source of media should be wary.

“Obviously it’s good to have all voices on the field. But leftists in the west should realise it’s in no way a leftist channel,” claimed Alyokhina.
“It’s budget is more than any Russian domestic channel. People should watch it realizing it’s Kremlin propaganda,” she added.
Earlier this week, RT, which has been broadcasting in the U.K. for nine years, was warned by local media regulator Ofcom that its coverage of the ongoing situation in Ukraine breached regulations regarding impartiality. The concerns were related to four reports broadcast in March.
