LONDON — Queen Elizabeth II‘s visit to the Game of Thrones set in Northern Ireland last month isn’t the only way the British monarchy is showing its support for the hit HBO show.

Tourists watching the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday were treated to a somewhat unusual musical accompaniment: the Game of Thrones theme performed by the Queen’s Guard.
The pitch-perfect rendition, which included military horns and drums, drew applause from the assembled audience and went on to receive praise from around the world when a video of the performance was posted online. In just a few days, the YouTube video has received more than one million hits.

While perhaps the most unexpected location for a Game of Thrones musical tribute, it’s not the first time Ramin Djawadi‘s iconic theme has been given an unusual tweak. The tune has recently been covered as a New Orleans-style jazz remix, an eight-bit computer game theme and a rock song.
