Quentin Tarantino and veteran costume designer Ellen Mirojnick will receive honorary awards at the 2016 Costume Designers Guild Awards.
The Hateful Eight director will receive the distinguished collaborator award in recognition of his creative partnerships with costume designers, while Mirojnick will receive the guild’s career achievement award.
Mirojnick won a Primetime Emmy and Costume Designers Guild Award for her work on HBO’s Behind the Candelabra, and her work in TV includes The Knick (which earned a CDGA nom) and the pilot of How to Get Away with Murder. Her film credits include Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, Chaplin and Speed. Mirojnick is currently working with Angelina Jolie Pitt on her next feature film.
Tarantino’s credits include Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. He earned best screenplay Oscar nominations for all three films, in addition to a nomination for directing Inglourious Basterds. Kurt Russell, who will be seen in Tarantino’s upcoming The Hateful Eight and also starred in Tarantino’s Grindhouse: Death Proof, will present him with the award.
The 18th Costume Designers Guild Awards will be held on Feb. 23, 2016 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
