Rachel McAdams hit the nail on the head with a distinguished, yet fun and spirited look for the New York premiere of A Most Wanted Man on Tuesday. Styled by power stylist duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, McAdams stepped out in a breezy yet chic Zuhair Murad print minidress and Casadei “Rodio Steelix” 113mm gray stilettos, which powered the look to new heights, quite literally. “With the whimsical structure and multi-color of the dress, we needed to find the perfect shoe that wouldn’t compete. The mesh and stripped suede created such a modern, sexy twist to a classic shape and neutral color,” Zangardi tells Pret-a-Reporter. Though this 2013 style is no longer readily available, celebrities from Sandra Bullock to Nicole Richie have embraced this shoe as a go-to. Designer Cesare Casadei, who has been creating footwear magic in Italy since the 1980s for his family footwear firm, Casadei, also weighed in on this style’s popularity, noting that the Rodio Steelix “has become such a loved pump among celebrities for its perfect shape and feminine line.” We concur. Will there be a campaign to bring this style back into production? We hope so.

The actress embraced the multi-print moment with a flowy, floral long-sleeved dress for Magic in the Moonlight‘s New York premiere. The return to femininity was ever evident in her look with soft, over-the-eye bangs but she took the softness in a different direction when it came to her shoes, donning peach suede Dolce & Gabbana peep-toe sandals with back ankle zip and pointy dagger heel. Stylist Petra Flannery noted that the footwear choice was intentionally chosen to create dimension in the look: “I chose the shoe because it was a little more edgy, which gave contrast to the feminine flow and print of the dress.” Spot on.

David, Romeo and Cruz Beckham
One half of the ever media-genic Beckham family stepped out for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Sports Awards. Sons Romeo and Cruz were styled to perfection by mom Victoria Beckham, dad David Beckham — or both. They sported black skinny jeans and white T-shirts, carefully coiffed hair and Vans — Romeo in black and rubber-soled Authentics and Cruz punching it up with a bright turquoise and white combination. These legendary classic kicks were created in the 1960s for surf stars and quickly gained a loyal following among the skate, surf and snowboard set. Now the shoes are practically a prerequisite for those seeking a cool style, which of course the young Beckham brothers clearly exemplify. Stylish dad proudly stood in the background, in a button-up short-sleeved shirt and black jeans, finishing the look with a pair of brown vintage RRL distressed lace-up ankle boots. Swoon.

Multihypenate Mindy Kaling arrived for TCA on Sunday in a green Tadashi Shoji dress with black lace detailing. It’s no secret that this pioneering writer-actor-comedian has been upping the fashion ante ever since her appearance in Vogue, even dabbling in the crop-top craze at the Paley Fest this spring. While the jewel tone of the green form-fitting shift is extraordinarily complimentary, where Kaling makes her mark is her choice of shoe. A classic peep-toe silhouette from the front, these black Jerome C. Rousseau “Bryant” stilettos sport a distinctive thorn heel, and a cutaway side for a sexy D’orsay profile. Olivia Wilde was spotted wearing the same style in Poppy a few weeks back. Looks like Hollywood may have found its go-to shoe for the carpet (and beyond).

Dina Manzo
Dina Manzo, the sometimes controversial Real Housewife of New Jersey star, co-hosted a party with her bestie, Teresa Giudice, this week at the Woodbury Country Club in New York. Manzo took the cue from the white-party theme as a way to channel her inner Grecian goddess, sporting a soft draped silver-and-white knee-length dress. Her Christian Dior silver reflective metallic strappy stilettos topped off the look, with an ankle strap and an angular heel. “I love a sexy silver shoe that can be worn with a dress or a pair of jeans, and the heel gives a modern twist to a classic style,” she said. Here’s to bringing out the softer side through your stiletto.
