Long, flowy, loose and retro-chic are all hallmarks of Rachel Zoe’s signature style, and now the designer has interpreted her favorite aspects of fashion into a recently launched maternity collection with A Pea in the Pod.
Zoe kept her ’70s-inspired ensembles intact while pregnant with her own two young sons, simply tweaking the foundational pieces to accommodate the baby bump and accessorizing accordingly. She pulled together drapey dresses with tailored jackets and traded in her precarious high-heeled platform shoes and boots for less treacherous wedges.
The superstylist also adjusted her beauty regimen to encompass natural and nontoxic products, which proved so effective that she still relies on the same list of skin-care and makeup items to get her appropriately glam.
A mix of niche, cult-fave and thrifty drugstore buys, Zoe’s list of beauty items suits expecting moms wanting to stay on the all-natural path with their belly balms and oils or, really, anyone trying to make the switch to healthier products that are as effective as they are glamorous.
Here, Zoe breaks down her must-have beauty items to use while pregnant, plus some simple styling advice for staying chic and comfortable for the next nine months.
Did your beauty regimen change at all while pregnant? If so, how?
When I’m pregnant, I only use all-natural and organic products. I even eat that way. When I’m not pregnant, I’m not quite as particular.
What are your favorite beauty items to use while pregnant?
Are there any items you started using while pregnant and still use today because they’re so great?
Yes, I still use all of those!
Describe your personal pregnancy style.
I lived in black leggings and maxi dresses — I styled them with tunics, drapey cardigans and wedges instead of stilettos. My number-one priority was comfort.
How is that reflected in your collection for A Pea in The Pod?
My collection is a reflection of what I want to wear pregnant. Like I said before, I lived in black leggings, maxi dresses, tunics, tailored jackets — pieces that are comfortable and versatile and are a maternity version of what I already wear.
The Rachel Zoe collection for A Pea in the Pod ranges from $98-$248 and is available exclusively at A Pea in the Pod and select Destination Maternity and Macy’s stores, as well as online at apeainthepod.com.
