So You Think You Can Dance fan favorite Stephen “tWitch” Boss will reprise his Step Up 3D role in Step Up 4.
The reality TV dance competition runner-up will return to the role of Jason for the fourth installment of Summit Entertainment’s successful series of dance movies. Scott Speer is directing the Miami-set film, which also stars Ryan Guzman and Kathryn McCormick.
Boss, who placed second on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008 and returned in 2009 to perform his Emmy-nominated routine “Mercy,” is considered one of the show’s “All-Stars.” He also performed “Outta Your Mind,” another Emmy-nominated dance, during the 2010 season.
He had recent roles in Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming, Hairspray and an episode of Bones. In addition to his acting, Boss is the only male dancer to be endorsed by Gatorade.
Offspring Entertainment’s Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman will produce the project along with Summit Entertainment’s Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig. Step Up 2 and Step Up 3-D director Jon M. Chu will executive produce along with Offspring’s Matt Smith. Jenny Mayer wrote the screenplay.
The three previous Step Up films have grossed a total of over $430 million worldwide.
Boss is represented by Global Artists Agency & Diaz Management Group.
