Reese Witherspoon traded in her signature blonde locks this week for a deep brown shade similar to the hue she sported back in 2005 during her Oscar-winning turn as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line.
The new hair is for her role in the upcoming film The Good Lie, which centers on a refugee of the Sudanese Civil War, and was decided upon by the actress, her longtime hair stylist Lona Vigi and the film’s director Philippe Falardeau to bring more depth to Witherspoon’s character.
To make the change, Witherspoon enlisted the help of colorist and Avon Global Hair Color Expert Lorri Goddard, who transformed the blonde to a brunette creating a color that she tells THR, “naturally enhances Reese’s features.”
To get the natural looking cocoa shade, Goddard layered in plenty of low lights and an all over lighter brown shade on the hair to create depth and texture.
Goddard first started working with Witherspoon when she brought the actress’s hair back to blonde after wrapping Walk The Line and has maintained her enviable golden locks ever since.
People are also buzzing about Ellen DeGeneres’ new brown crop. Could she be copping Reese’s beauty choices? Chances are the talk show host was sporting the ‘do as part of an April Fool’s joke earlier in the week. Or perhaps brunettes are just having a moment.
Weigh in. What do you think of Reese’s newly dyed locks?
