“Let’s talk movies,” said Witherspoon at the top of the video, noting that of all the films she’s done, Legally Blonde is the one most often talked about by fans. “I think it’s because of Elle Woods,” said the actress. “She just inspires people to believe in themselves.”
Witherspoon was joined by Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Holland Taylor, Alanna Ubach, Jessica Cauffiel, Ali Larter and Matthew Davis, all of whom played iconic roles in the 2001 comedy from director Robert Luketic.
Blair recalled how her audition involved making the “now you see Elle Woods” face, while Wilson spoke of how Witherspoon’s character was over the top, but also based in reality. He went on to say that Elle Woods reminded him of the Nutty Professor or Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.
Coolidge said that her favorite look from the film was her mustard colored hair, because it matched all the clothes that her character wore. Davis joked that he was “crapping his pants” every step of the way while shooting the film, because at that point he was not as experienced as some of the other cast. “I learned so much from working with you Reese,” he gushed.
Recalling Witherspoon’s focus and dedication to the character and the movie, Coolidge recalled a day when she was eating donuts at the craft service table. Witherspoon approached her, and Coolidge exclaimed, “Reese, I can’t stop eating these donuts.” And Witherspoon replied, “Then, just don’t. Don’t eat them.” Coolidge laughed that Witherspoon was always in character, even at the craft service table and that she would forget her lines in scenes with her sometimes because she was so believable as Elle Woods.
