The actress is nominated for her role in John Ridley’s American Crime, in which she plays a devout Muslim named Aliyah Shadeed. Along with King, Uzo Aduba, Joanne Froggatt, Judith Light and Maura Tierney are also nominated for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television.
King most recently earned an Emmy Award for her performance on the ABC drama.
The 73rd Golden Globe Awards — hosted by Ricky Gervais — airs live Sunday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
