Courtesy of PhotofestAs the fallout from Relativity’s bankruptcy continues to gather pace, The Crow reboot is the latest film on its slate that’s been caught in the fray.
Reports emerged Friday that pre-production on the film in the U.K. had stalled. A source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that an entire production team had this week “left the project,” along with “several other” heads of department. Another insider added that a “statement would be forthcoming.”
Relativity is still hoping to go into production this fall, and a source at the company said “we continue to be excited by The Crow.” But whether the embattled company keeps hold of the title remains to be seen.
Another Relativity project which hasn’t yet started filming, teen romance Out of This World starring Asa Butterfield as a boy raised on Mars, has moved to STX Entertainment. The company has also given the rights to the Jennifer Garner-starring YA adaptation The Tribes of Palos Verdes back to the movie’s producers.
For The Crow, which Ryan Kavanaugh first revealed he was interested in back in 2009, it’s another in a long line of hiccups for producer Ed Pressman‘s reboot of his own 1994 cult horror film, with high profile casting exits and a series of attached directors that came and went.
Earlier this year, it looked like it was finally gathering pace, revealed in March as the first major feature to be shot at Pinewood Studio’s new facilities in Cardiff and with Corin Hardy at the helm.
