A Star Is Born
Storm Reid has signed with BWR Public Relations. The young actress will star as Meg Murry in Disney’s buzzy adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s Newbery-winning classic A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay. Reid co-starred in the well-received Sundance NEXT selection Sleight, which WWE Studios and Blumhouse will release next year. She’ll also appear in Judy Greer’s directorial debut A Happening of Monumental Proportions. Reid continues to be repped by Savage and Principato Young.
42West also has signed Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. In between her regular gig as the eldest Dunphy child Haley on the long-running ABC hit, the actress co-starred in the EDM film XOXO, which Netflix released Aug. 26.
Booking a Show Near You
ICM Partners has minted two new agents in its concerts department:
— Los Angeles-based Kevin Jergenson, who will focus on international touring. The University of Arizona alumnus started at ICM as an agency trainee, joining in 2012.
— New York-based Yves Pierre, who will focus on the urban division. She graduated from St. John’s University and also joined ICM in 2012.
The agency’s concerts department also has promoted Los Angeles-based Jess Frohman and New York-based Danielle Beckford and Julia Senerth to coordinator.
Motion picture lit agent Craig Brody has left CAA to lead the features department of lit management firm The Shuman Co.
“I am thrilled that Craig has joined The Shuman Co.,” said Larry Shuman, who founded the firm in 1991. “We have had a fantastic relationship working with clients together over the last several years. Craig’s tastes and instincts mirror the culture we seek to have here. His creative approach, depth of knowledge, relationships and wide-ranging experience with both film and television are a great fit to help lead The Shuman Co. into the future.”
Over 11 years at CAA, Brody’s clients included Ben Younger (Bleed for This), Ezra Edelman (O.J.: Made in America), Dean Israelite (Lionsgate’s upcoming Power Rangers) and Adam Davidson (Fear the Walking Dead).
“I have long admired the incredible business that Larry has built,” Brody said in a statement. “We have similar tastes and philosophies on how to build clients’ careers. I am excited to be even more hands-on with my clients as they continue to grow and expand their business.”
Publicists Annick Oppenheim and Caryn Leeds have both departed Sunshine Sachs to join Wolf | Kasteler Public Relations as senior account executives. Oppenheim will be based in Los Angeles and Leeds in New York.
Media agency Mindshare has hired two new executives:
— Horizon Media senior vp and managing director Eric Geiger will now serve as executive director, leading Mindshare’s work with Lionsgate. Geiger’s two decades’ worth of experience with entertainment clients includes leading the STX Entertainment account at Horizon as well as working with 20th Century Fox, FX, Hulu and Warner Bros.
— Team One group media director Scott Wensman, who will serve as managing director at Mindshare and oversee Los Angeles-based clients including Nordstrom, Campari, Nature Made and ARCO. His 15 years of agency experience includes working with Lexus and Visa and serving as vice president of media strategy at IPG Emerging Media Lab.
“Eric and Scott are two tremendously talented leaders,” Mindshare West Coast lead Cheryl Idell said in a statement. “Each of them brings their own varied industry expertise, but they both share a passion for driving provocative ideas, launching agile executions for brands and developing strong teams. Their appointments are another stepping stone in the growth of our L.A. office and for the agency’s adaptive marketing mission as a whole.”
