Richard Linklater is to receive the Casting Society of America’s Career Achievement Award.
The Boyhood director is being recognized for his contributions to the entertainment industry and his inclusion of the casting director in the overall creative process and he will be presented with the award at the 30th Annual Artios Awards taking place Jan. 22 2015.
Linklater’s career stretches to seventeen features, including this year the critically acclaimed and likely awards contender Boyhood on which he worked closely with casting director Beth Sepko.

Richard Hicks, the President of the Casting Society of America said: “Richard is a filmmaker whose work is both current and timeless. With Boyhood, he worked with casting director Beth Sepko to make casting choices, which sustained the film’s emotional truth over the 12 years it took to shoot. It demonstrates the power of making the artistically authentic choice and highlights how much can be achieved with quality casting. His career is full of such work. It’s a special year for the Artios, our 30th, and it required an extraordinary honoree. We are thrilled to salute him.”
Alongside the award for Linklater, Into the Woods director Rob Marshall will pick up the New York Award and Emmy award-winning casting director Ellen Lewis will be given the Hoyt Bowers award.
The next edition of the awards will be the first time it has been held in January, right in the middle of awards season.
