Game of Thrones grad Richard Madden is in negotiations to join Taron Egerton in the Elton John biopic Rocketman, the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The actor who formerly played Robb Stark on the HBO drama will star as John’s former manager, John Reid, who oversaw the career of the “Tiny Dancer” and “Rocket Man” singer for over three decades starting in the 1970s. Dexter Fletcher, who worked with Egerton on Eddie the Eagle, is set to helm the biopic, which is being financed and distributed by Paramount.
John and his husband David Furnish are producing Rocketman under their Rocket Pictures banner, along with Matthew Vaughn, who directed John (playing a heightened version of himself) in the Kingsman sequel The Golden Circle, and his Marv Films.
Madden recently starred on Amazon’s Strange New Things, Discovery’s limited series Klondike and the films Bastille Day and Cinderella. He is repped by WME and Troika.
