The musical is being directed by Tony winner Michael Grandage and also features Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón. This marks the first revival of the Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice musical since it first debuted over 30 years ago. The 1996 film version famously featured Madonna as Evita and Antonio Banderas as Ché.
For Martin, it’s his second time on Broadway. Back in 1999 he debuted on the Broadway stage in the role of Marius in the original production of Les Misérables. Martin is currently wrapping up his Música + Alma + Sexo tour and has said he will move to New York to begin rehearsals in January. Martin, who is nominated for several Latin Grammys, will perform at that awards ceremony Nov. 10.
