The Two and a Half Men star cut his long mane and shaved off that scraggly beard he wore for his first season of Men. At today’s TCA press conference, he explained that his new shorn look was mandated by the show’s writers, with the reason to be explained in next Monday’s episode. Apparently, his character, the lovesick internet billionaire Walden Schmidt, needed a makeover. Guessing, we’re just guessing.

Kutcher told the press that he had let his hair grow long when he first met the producers about the role. “I was starting to get a little shaggy and we just kind of kept it,” he said. All those who are happy to see it go, raise your hands. OK, it’s unanimous.
Meanwhile,Twilight hunk Robert Pattison, who had been spotted by paps hiding his practically shaved head with a baseball cap in LA this past week, did his big reveal at the People’s Choice Awards. Frankly, his buzz cut looks a little painful. We just hope his lead role in Cosmopolis — directed by David Cronenberg — was worth it. What are we saying, of course, it’s worth it. It’s David Cronenberg! Since the peculiar sideways mullet he was seen sporting at Comic-Con last summer was for the film, we’re betting he was advised to even it out before growing his hair back.

Pattinson was competing on Wednesday for the Favorite Movie Actor trophy against heavy hitters Daniel Radcliffe, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, and Ryan Reynolds, which is probably one of those ‘Hey, happy to be nominated’ kind of deals (Johnny won). But RPatz already accepted the Favorite Drama Movie Award for Water for Elephants early on in the ceremony. Must be nice to accept an award for something other than Twilight.
What do your think of these hunks short haircuts? We gotta wonder what Kristen Stewart and Demi Moore think of their men’s new looks? Oh, wait. Now we remember. But Ashton has been seen still wearing his wedding ring lately so maybe the fat lady hasn’t sung yet.
