Robin Roberts on GMA Return Home - H 2012
ABCAfter one month in the hospital, Robin Roberts has headed home.
The Good Morning America anchor, who 21 days ago received a bone marrow transplant from her sister Sally-Ann to help in her fight against cancer, is well enough to continue her recovery from her home in New York City.
Roberts wrote that with a weakened immune system, comparable to that of a newborn baby’s, she must stay away from GMA until she is strong enough to withstand the germs of the outside world.

“My doctors will be monitoring me closely and I will still be at the hospital regularly to make sure we’re on the right track,” she added. “I cannot thank my amazing medical team enough. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for how they treat all their patients with such passion and compassion.”
Her journey home was captured in a special video segment for GMA that aired on Thursday, and her co-stars on the show tweeted out their excitement for her progress.

“How GREAT is it to see our sister @RobinRoberts going home!!!!!!!!!” Lara Spencer wrote, while George Stephanopolous added, “What a great morning!!! @RobinRoberts is waking up at home today #TeamRobin”.”
Roberts also thanked GMA‘s surging viewership, which has propelled the show past perennial champion Today Show.
“Most of all, I know it is your prayers and warm thoughts that have gotten me this far,” the anchor wrote. “I truly feel them each and every day. I humbly ask that you please continue to send them until you see me back at the GMA anchor desk and I promise to send them right back at ya.”
