Robin Thede is putting down roots.
The Emmy-nominated creator of HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show has signed an exclusive multiple-year overall deal with Warner Bros. TV Group.
Under her first-ever multiple-year deal, Thede will develop new content for streaming outlets, premium and basic cable and broadcast networks.
The deal extends Thede’s relationship with Warner Media, for whom she created, exec produces and stars in HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show. The series, which counts Issa Rae among its exec producers, is up for outstanding variety sketch show at next month’s Emmys.
The series, on which she serves as showrunner and writer, has already been renewed for a second season. In addition to the sophomore run of her HBO show, Thede is currently writing feature Fashionably Black for HBO Max and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society banner. She recently appeared in the fourth season of HBO’s Insecure and in Justin Simien’s thriller Bad Hair. The latter debuts Oct. 23 on Hulu.
Her credits also include the critically acclaimed BET show The Rundown With Robin Thede and working as the head writer and correspondent for Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore. She was the head writer for the 2016 White House Correspondents Association dinner.
Thede is repped by Del Shaw.
Thede joins a roster of talent at Warners including Greg Berlanti, J.J. Abrams, Ava DuVernay, John Wells and Matthew Cherry, among others.
