Michael YoungNewcomer Jonny Beauchamp has been cast in Roland Emmerich‘s gay rights film Stonewall.
The film, which will star Jeremy Irvine, tells the story of the riots of June 1969 after police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village. Emmerich’s film will focus on one man’s political awakening sparked by the riots, which became a galvanizing event for the gay rights movement.

Emmerich, the helmer of White House Down and Independence Day, will direct from a script by Jon Robin Baitz. Emmerich, Michael Fossat and Marc Frydman are producing. Executive producers on the Centropolis Films production are Kirstin Winkler and Adam Press.
Beauchamp, an up-and-comer who appeared on TV series How to Make It in America, would play Ray Castro, another gay activist and one of the first men arrested during the riots. He’s also a love interest for Irvine’s character.
Beauchamp, whose upcoming films include indie Thirsty (out in September), is repped by Michael Einfeld Management.
