The film, which re-unites Howard with Frost/Nixon screenwriter Peter Morgan, recreates the 1970s rivalry between James Hunt, played by Chris Hemsworth, and Niki Lauda, portrayed by Daniel Bruhl, who clashed on the Grand Prix racetrack.
The film also is scheduled to play the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from Sept. 5 to 15.
Rush also stars Olivia Wilde and Alexandra Maria Lara. It is produced by Andrew Eaton, Eric Fellner, Brian Oliver, Brian Grazer and Morgan and executive produced by Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media, Tim Bevan and Todd Hallowell.
