The former Damages actress is in negotiations to join the ensemble cast of Shawn Levy’s adaptation of Jonathan Tropper’s This Is Where I Leave You for Warner Bros. and to join Seth Rogen and Zac Efron in Universal’s Townies.
In Leave You, Jason Bateman leads a cast that includes Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Kathryn Hahn and Corey Stoll. It centers on a man (Bateman) whose father dies and tasks his dysfunctional family of four grown siblings with one last request: to spend seven days after the funeral together under the same roof for first time in a decade.

Byrne will play the movie’s romantic lead, an old crush of Bateman’s character who happens to be a former wild child.
Townies is Universal’s raunchy and sure-to-be-R-rated comedy that Nick Stoller is directing from a script written by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. It follows a regular guy (Rogen) who lives near an alpha male frat, led by Efron’s character, and whose behavior wreaks havoc on Rogen’s home life.

Byrne will play Rogen’s wife, the adult in the relationship.
Townies being produced by Good Universe and Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures. Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver are the producers. Good Universe’s Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are executive producing as are Cohen and O’Brien.
Townies is looking at a spring shoot while Leave You is looking at a June start in New York.
Byrne — a two-time Emmy nominee for her role on Damages — worked with Levy on The Internship, Fox’s upcoming workplace comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and is reprising her role from the hit horror movie Insidious for the sequel. Her British comedy I Give It a Year had its U.S. premiere at SXSW this week. The Aussie’s credits also include X-Men: First Class and The Place Beyond the Pines.
Byrne is repped by CAA and Australia’s RGM Artist Group.
