Rosie O’Donnell‘s 17-year-old daughter, Chelsea, was found Tuesday in the home of 25-year-old convicted criminal Steven Sheerer, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Lieutenant Keith Germain of the Barnegat Police Department in New Jersey confirmed that Chelsea was found in the attic of Sheerer’s home unharmed.
In 2012, Sheerer was charged with possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of children.
The police department received a call Tuesday from Rockland County Sheriff’s Department in New York with a tip to investigate homes on Sheerer’s street; a cell phone signal placed Chelsea in the referenced vicinity.

Germain said that officer Nicholas Dapuzzo of the Barnegat PD visited two homes before knocking on Sheerer’s door. According to Germain, Sheerer was being evasive and told the officer that no one else was in the home, but Dapuzzo “called him out and pointed out his behavior.”
Dapuzzo entered the home and found Chelsea in the attic with her dog, Bear. Germain said that Chelsea “came right down” and was “compliant and cooperative” with all evidence pointing to the teen being in the home voluntarily. Lieutenant Germain said the officers found no evidence of drugs and nothing uncovered in the home warranted criminal charges in this case.
Germain could not confirm how Chelsea and Sheerer met.
O’Donnell put in calls to personally thank both Germain and Dapuzzo for their efforts, Germain told THR.
