DKNY’s fall 2015 collection is a love note to New York, with the pieces designed in mind for the city’s kickass ladies. With a digital background displaying phrases from tweets about New York being “grime and glamour, glitter and guts” and “the ultimate city in the world where anyone regardless of who they are or where they came from can make something for themselves,” designer Donna Karan showcased a collection that included a masculine blazer with strategically placed embellishments, a gray oversized coat with sequined sleeves and tailored, work-ready pantsuits that would please any hustlin’ lady on the go.
The show, which was held at the Cedar Lake performance stage, welcomed a group of fierce women, including Kesha, Zendaya, Victoria Justice, Bella Hadid (model Gigi Hadid‘s little sister) and Sofia Richie (Nicole Richie‘s younger sibling). While the front-row beauties watched the runway, they also jammed to the music played during the presentation. “Backseat Love” by Rotterdam-based singer Sevdaliza and “Down by the Water” by English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey were the few head-bopping songs heard during the runway, but no other tune felt as fitting as “Boys Wanna Be Her” by Peaches. Because, dude, haven’t you heard? Girls run the world.
