Rupert Murdoch wants former New York mayor and media billionaire Michael Bloomberg to run for president.
With Donald Trump‘s candidature becoming a serious proposition, Murdoch tweeted on Sunday that it was time for “next billionaire candidate” in Bloomberg who he described as New York’s “greatest mayor.”
The executive co-chairman of 21st Century Fox and executive chairman of News Corp went on to say that though he disagreed with a lot of what Bloomberg did in office, particularly the “nannystate” policies, he said that he was a great “philanthropic executive” that, along with Rudy Giuliani, made New York city the greatest.
A few minutes later, Murdoch sent a tweet that clarified he wouldn’t vote for Bloomberg if he did run, but merely that he was a “friend I admire.”
Murdoch has been outspoken in his criticism of Trump entering the 2016 race, previously calling the reality TV star and real estate billionaire “wrong” on the issue immigration and in July tweeted: “When is Donald Trump going to stop embarrassing his friends, let alone the whole country?”
With Trump becoming very serious candidate, it’s time for next billionaire candidate, Mike Bloomberg to step into ring. Greatest mayor.

Agree much about Bloomberg, nannystate, etc, but still a great philanthropic executive who, with Guiliani, made NY the greatest.

I did not say I would vote for him! Just a friend I admire.
