Courtesy of Maxine LeonardRussian distributor Renovatio Entertainment has picked up U.S. movies Bleed for This and The Wannabe for Russian release
Bleed for This stars Miles Teller as boxing legend Vinny Pazienza, and Nick Sandow‘s The Wannabe is a criminal drama featuring Patricia Arquette and Vincent Piazza. Both films will be released in Russia in 2016.
According to Renovatio producer Sarik Andreasyan, Martin Scorsese‘s role as an executive producer on both films was reportedly the deciding factor in why they picked up the movies, as it was “a sign of quality.”
“For me, this is one of the greatest directors, a real master,” he was quoted as saying by the website ProfiCinema.ru. “I grew up on his movies, and I’m proud that we’ll be able to distribute those films in Russia.”
Earlier this week, the Moscow International Film Festival’s director of programming, Kirill Razlogov, announced that The Wannabe would screen as part of the festival’s official selection next month.
