Ruth Negga stepped out in long-sleeve, ruby red gown at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday.
The actress, styled by Karla Welch, paired her custom Valentino lace dress with an Irene Neuwirth crown and earrings covered in Gemfields rubies, and an ACLU blue ribbon. Welch shared that they were going for “a pagan goddess” look.
Before Negga’s big night, Welch told THR that the look was going to be “simple and elegant and perfect for the Oscars.” She added, “There’s a quietness to the look, but it’s major.”
Negga is nominated for best actress for her work in Loving, going up against fellow nominees Emma Stone (La La Land), Isabelle Huppert (Elle), Natalie Portman (Jackie) and Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins).

The 89th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, air live on ABC at 5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET.
