Sam Worthington is set to star in Phillip Noyce‘s action-thriller For the Dogs, based on Kevin Wignall‘s novel about a solitary assassin who helps a college girl exact revenge for the murder of her parents and brother.
Oren Moverman is writing the script based on Paul Leydon’s adaptation.
Sierra/Affinity will shop the project to foreign buyers at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. The film market coincides with the Berlin International Film Festival.
Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce via their FilmEngine Entertainment banner, along with Worthington, John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz via their Full Clip Productions banner, and Paul Leyden. Paradigm is handling domestic rights.
“I have been friends with Sam, John, Mike and Paul for some time now and watched them grow their production company. They are very talented producers with commercial instincts who led us to this terrific thriller, with a character that seems to be tailor-made for Sam. With a brilliant director like Phillip, we are very excited to have a team like this come together,” McIlhargey stated.
Noyce’s directing credits include Salt, Rabbit Proof Fence and Clear and Present Danger.
Worthington (Avatar) was most recently seen in Wrath of the Titans and The Debt.
