On Wednesday’s Full Frontal, Samantha Bee weighed in with her humorous and biting take on the first presidential debate.
Bee talked about the media’s sexist coverage of Hillary Clinton both ahead of and after the debate, when pundits gave Clinton a lot of advice and then “fact-checked” her smile. Bee put together a supercut of everything Hillary was being told to do and recapped it. “Be perfect, but not too perfect,” said Bee. “Save us from fascism, but don’t be a bitch about it.”
The host said the pundits forgot to tell Donald Trump not to “snort” his way through the debate like a pig.
Bee said that she thinks “the experience of listening to a man who just discovered a topic on the internet three weeks ago belligerently correct a woman who has been studying said topic her entire adult life felt very Monday to most women.”
When analyzing the debate itself, Bee said “three-syllable words don’t suit” Trump and that instead of repeatedly asserting that Clinton doesn’t have enough stamina, he should try a different tactic.
“Just say ‘penis,’ Don,” she suggested of what she thinks Trump really believes Clinton is lacking.

While Trump made it seem like Clinton was “cheating” by planning for the debate, Bee said, joking that the GOP presidential candidate saw her as “Hermione Clinton” or as a PTA mom-busybody-overplanner. “But Trump never considered the possibility she might be a Count of Monte Cristo overplanner.”
“She spent months planning an elaborate plan for Trump, and he lumbered right into it,” said Bee. “All she had to do was step out of his way while he called a woman fat.”
Moderator Lester Holt had a “nearly impossible” job, said Bee, especially with Trump “projectile lying” in his face all night. She said Holt let a lot of things go but spotlighted when the NBC Nightly News anchor called out Trump’s “stop and frisk” comments.
Bee complimented Megyn Kelly for “using her mean-girl superpower for good” by suggesting that Sean Hannity was not a journalist, when Trump talked to him in the spin room following the debate.

And just in case people wanted to hear what debate watchers felt during the debate, Bee sent a team of people out to get reactions from Republican and Democratic viewers.
