Buffy the Vampire Slayer has secured some new fans.
While joining Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show Wednesday, Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that her and husband Freddie Prince Jr.’s children asked to watch her iconic supernatural show.
The WB show may have been a hit that aired for seven seasons, but the actress admitted it never crossed her mind to ever introduce her children the show. “We just started. I had never thought to show it to them,” the 43-year-old actress said.
She explained that the idea was sparked when they were “trying to find shows to binge” and her children asked if they could watch Buffy.
“I didn’t even know if they’d be into it, but they are like so into it,” she said.
Even though Gellar played the titular character, she admits she’s the “world’s biggest disappointment” because she fails to remember a lot of things from the show.
“They’ll always ask questions and I’ll be like ‘I don’t remember. I’ll have to text someone and ask,'” she said. “They think they know it better than I do at this point.”
However, Gellar quips that watching the show has had its advantages. “My son actually thinks that I’m cool now,” she told Clarkson.
Though the show ended in 2003, the actress has made references and paid homage to Buffy multiple times on social media. She recently posted a screenshot of her and actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy‘s younger sister on the show, to wish her a happy birthday.
“You will always be my little sister. (Even if you’ve been taller than me since you were 15),” she wrote.
Then earlier this year, Gellar dressed up in the same attire Buffy wore in the series’ first season finale. “All dressed up and no where to go,” she captioned the photo.
