Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Sausage Party is going to be an epic adventure of survival.
The trailer for the raunchy animated film dropped Monday in conjunction with Sony’s work-in-progress screening at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
Yes, there are sight gags, double entendres, single entendres and just about every pun you can think of when it comes to things you’ll find in a supermarket. But there’s a compelling story here too, one where our heroes have the veil ripped from their eyes (in the case of the potatoes, multiple eyes) and see the world for what it really is — and it’s horrible.
Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll and Jonah Hill are among the voice cast, which also promises some surprise cameos. Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon are directing from a script by Rogen, Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.
Rogen and Goldberg also will present their Episodic title Preacher at this year’s SXSW.
Sausage Party is a Columbia Pictures and Annapurna Pictures presentation and a Point Grey production. Open to all badge types, the work-in-progress screening is set for Monday, March 14, at 9:15 pm at the Paramount Theatre.
