A pair of Schitt’s Creek alumni are set to lead the cast of a Syfy series — which is gearing up to begin production in a few weeks.
Tim Rozon — who also stars in Syfy’s Wynonna Earp — and Sarah Levy will topline The Surrealtor, about a real estate firm that specializes in haunted and possessed houses. The show is scheduled begin filming its 10-episode season Sept. 15 in Newfoundland, Canada, as production starts to ramp up north of the border. Newfoundland and Labrador has had fewer than 10 active cases of the novel coronavirus since June.
The cast of The Surrealtor also includes Adam Korson (Seed), Maurice Dean Wint (Diggstown), Savannah Beasley (Wynonna Earp) and Tennille Read (Workin’ Moms).
The series centers on Nick Roman (Rozon), whose real estate firm specializes in “metaphysically engaged” properties and leads a team of specialists who handle cases no one else can: haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away. Researching, investigating and “fixing” the things that go bump in the night, the team works to create closure — and closings — even as they struggle with demons of their own. Levy will play Susan Ireland, an enormously successful realtor who doesn’t believe in ghosts or hauntings.
Korson, Wint and Beasley will all play members of Nick’s team, while Read plays a medical student who just inherited a house from her grandfather and is looking to sell it.
George Olson developed the series and will serve as showrunner. He executive produces with Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Armand Leo and Danishka Esterhazy. Blue Ice Pictures produces.
