Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, has nabbed the lead role in upcoming Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride.
Based on the 2013 novel, the film centers on an elderly man who is stranded after a car crash and recounts his younger years with the love of his life. In a nearby town at a local bull-riding event, a college senior meets a young cowboy, and the two begin to fall for each other, drastically changing their lives forever. The romantic drama follows the two couples, who have little in common, as their lives converge.
George Tillman Jr. is directing the romantic drama for Fox 2000. Sparks is producing with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill, Theresa Park and Robert Teitel.

Eastwood, whose past film credits include Invictus and thriller Enter Nowhere, will play the young cowboy Luke. The actor, who has been building up his acting resume with indie films and a recent stint on TV’s Chicago PD, will next be seen in David Ayers‘ WWII tank drama Fury opposite Brad Pitt. Eastwood is repped by UTA and Joanne Horowitz Management.
Longest Ride, which is slated to open on April 3, 2015, is the ninth Sparks adaptation to hit the big screen. The romantic dramas, including The Notebook, Dear John and The Lucky One, have proven to be strong performers at the box office over the years.
