Sean “Diddy” Combs wears many hats: rapper, producer, sometime actor, clothing designer, endorser of things. Now he wants to stamp his name, Trump-style, on a TV network.
On Tuesday, Comcast — the nation’s No. 1 cable provider — announced it will distribute a Combs-backed network called Revolt, slated to launch next year. The hip-hop mogul is teaming up with MTV veteran Andy Schuon on the channel, which will highlight music and pop culture programming including music videos, live performances, news and interviews. Social media will be a big influence on content.
In a statement, Combs said Revolt is “is the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media. We’re building this platform for artists to reach an extraordinary number of people in a completely different way. Revolt will be live, like all great moments in television history.”

According to The New York Times, Time Warner — Comcast’s rival cable TV provider — was in talks to pick up Combs’ channel.
Meanwhile, Comcast has also struck deals to carry networks from networks from Magic Johnson and Robert Rodriguez; Johnson’s Aspire venture will bring “enlightening, entertaining and positive programming to African-Americans families,” the NBA legend said Tuesday.
Combs, the CEO of Bad Boy Entertainment known for his rap songs, self-promotional swagger and ever-changing monikers, produced the reality TV series Making the Band for MTV. He’s also made cameos on such shows as Hawaii Five-O, CSI: Miami and Entourage.
