With Diane von Furstenberg’s “Journey of a Dress” exhibit scheduled to close on May 1, L.A.’s fashionphiles will soon be in need of a style fix that comes with an academic slant. And on May 3, they’ll get one when BCBG unveils its own retrospective exhibit featuring 25 years of contemporary design.
Founded by French fashion designer Max Azria, the L.A.-based fashion label (that, in full disclosure, is owned by THR‘s parent company) will toast its collections over the years with a retrospective exhibit called the “Living the Bon Chic Life” commemorating the company’s history, the studio’s design process and its ad campaigns over the years, as well as a “Red Carpet Hall” that will look back at designs worn by the likes of Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Alicia Keys, to name a few.
“We could not be more excited to be celebrating this amazing landmark in BCBGMAXAZRIA history. Nothing starts without a dream and 25 years ago, Max had one vision: ‘to create a beautiful dress,'” Lubov Azria, Max’s other half and chief creative office of BCBG Max Azria Group, tells Pret-a-Reporter. “The ‘Living the Bon Chic Life’ retrospective is our way of not only reflecting upon the many milestones that have brought us to this point, but sharing this celebratory moment in BCBG history with our incredible team, partners and customers, who have made it all possible.”
Lucky for fans, the exhibit is opened to the public at the BCBG HQ (2761 Fruitland Ave., Vernon, 90058) on May 3, 4 and 10 from 12 to 5 p.m. Another bonus for guests? Visitors who attend the exhibit will also be able to shop a special-edition pop-up, where archival runway pieces will be sold for 70 percent off its original retail price.
