The dedication recognizes not just her impact professionally (the Colombia native is the second-most successful Latin singer of all time, behind Gloria Estefan, having sold 60 million-plus albums and charted nine Top 40 hits), but her charity work as well.

Shakira learned a valuable lesson over the weekend — don’t taunt wild animals with electronics.
The singer took to her Facebook page on Sunday to recount a horrific encounter with a sea lion, in which the animal leapt from the water in an attempt to attack.

“Omg what just happened to me!” Shakira wrote. “I was attacked by a sea lion!”
Delving into the details of her story, it becomes clear that the sea lion may have thought her blackberry was actually a tasty fish. It is unclear exactly where the attack happened, but Shakira appears to be currently visiting South Africa.
“This afternoon I happened to see some sea lions and seals. I thought to myself how cute they were so I decided to get a bit closer than all of the other tourists and went down to a rock trying to pet them doing a baby talk while taking pictures,” Shakira wrote. “Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me.”
“I believe what happened is that it confused the shiny reflection of the blackberry I was taking these pics with, with some sort of fish,” she added. “It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it.”

Luckily, the Columbian native walked away with just a few scrapes thanks to the quick thinking by her brother, Tony.
“I was paralyzed by fear and couldn’t move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother ‘Super Tony’ jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast,” she said. “We both got our hands and legs scratched by the rocks while trying to protect ourselves.”
Shakira later posted photos with a few penguins, which she described as “definitely friendlier!”
Shakira’s last studio effort came in 2010, featuring the official FIFA World Cup song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” In late 2011, Shakira received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also honored as the Latin Grammy Person of the Year.
