Sharon Stone and Bollywood power couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will host the inaugural amfAR India event on Nov. 17 in Mumbai. AmfAR – The Foundation for AIDS Research – is organizing the India fund-raiser for which tickets range from $75,000 (the Grand Philanthropist Package for 10), $50,000 (the Grand Benefactor Package for 10), $25,000 (the Benefactor Package for 10) to $5,000 (patron ticket) and $2,500 (supporter ticket).
Presented by Indian billionaire Cyrus Poonawalla (whose Poonawalla Group is the event’s principal sponsor), the fundraiser will take place at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in south Mumbai. AmfAR chairman Kenneth Cole will also be present at the event which will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, live auction and a performance by Ke$ha.

The event will also include the inaugural edition of the Gold Fashion Show, in collaboration with LoveGold, a segment of the World Gold Council. The show will feature leading Indian fashion designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, Tarun Tahiliani and Rohit Bal who will present five creations that celebrate gold and gold jewelry for the modern Indian woman.
“I would like to thank the people of India for their brave and conscientious work in the fight again HIV/AIDS and for allowing amfAR the privilege of joining them in this important global effort,” Stone said in a statement. “We are grateful and humbled to be welcomed by the Indian community and to share in the wealth of knowledge provided by the Indian people and its government.”
The India event is in line with amfAR’s international events which first launched in 1993 in Cannes and has also been hosted in Dubai, Milan, Paris, Rio, Rome, São Paolo, Toronto, Venice, and Vienna. Over the years, amfAR’s fund-raisers have generated over $100 million in support of the Foundation’s lifesaving AIDS research programs.
