Shia LaBeouf has come a long way from his days on Disney Channel.
The former Even Stevens star, now best known for his role in the Transformers movies, appears in a new video by Icelandic indie group Sigur Ros where he reveals more than just his emotions.

In the very artsy, very experimental 8 1/2-minute clip for “Fjogur Piano,” a moody instrumental piece, LaBeouf appears nude — showing full-frontal nudity at some points — as he embraces and dances with co-star Deena Thomsen, who also appears in various stages of undress.
Framed dead butterflies figure prominently in the odd clip, and LaBeouf is shown trapped in a car submerged underwater at one point. Thomsen also does some gymnastics on a bed canopy and is later shown getting mutilated by LaBeouf in bed.
The video was directed by Israeli filmmaker Alma Har’el, who was one of a dozen directors asked by Sigur Ros to select a song off the group’s new album, Valtari, and shoot a video inspired by the music, according to the Wall Street Journal. Each director received a budget of $10,000 but no guidance from the group.

So what does it all mean?
The video “is about addiction to drugs, or sex or anything — and how you get stuck in a cycle,” Har’el, who also has directed music videos for the band Beirut as well as spots for Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign, told the WSJ.
She added, “The things you can’t say in words are best said in dance.”
Meanwhile, the butterflies symbolize “very beautiful things that die fast. For me, it’s about not knowing how to get out of something without causing pain to somebody else. For other people it might be about candy and fish. I’m down with that.”

Har’el added that the nude scenes weren’t originally part of the plan but were decided upon during the five-day shoot.
“That’s the difference between working within a corporate system and something that artistically takes you places you wouldn’t expect,” Har’el said. “To me, it’s erotic, but it’s not selling anything.”
