LONDON – Shine International, part of Elisabeth Murdoch‘s Shine Group, has signed a first-look development and distribution deal with 44 Blue Productions, the outfit behind shows such as Wahlburgers, which is set to debut on Jan. 22 on the A+E channel; the Lockup franchise, one of the longest-running reality series on television; and Pit Bulls & Parolees, which airs on Animal Planet.
The deal, which begins with immediate effect, was announced and brokered by 44 Blue Productions president Rasha Drachkovitch, Stephanie Drachkovitch, executive vp and co-owner of 44 Blue, and Tania Jacobson, Shine International svp sales and acquisitions in the Americas.

Other 44 Blue Productions to date include the Emmy-nominated Split Ends (Style) and the Gracie Award-winning Married to the Army: Alaska.
Rasha Drachkovitch said Shine International’s approach to programming and “its commitment to working with independent producers is a great fit for our company, and we are thrilled to begin this new chapter.”
Stephanie Drachkovitch added: “Shine has an impressive reputation for producing and distributing terrific television. We look forward to being in such great company.”
It follows hot on the heels of a similar deal Shine struck with Ecosse Films here in late 2013.
Shine International is responsible for the distribution of over 3,700 hours of broadcast content annually on behalf of Shine Group and a slew of third-party producers, while handling global rights to both non-scripted and scripted formats.
