Shirley Chi Weiss, a production coordinator on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, has died. She was 36.
Weiss died April 23, her family announced. Her sister Stephanie said she died at her home in Los Angeles of “natural causes.”
Weiss also served on the production staff of CBS’ Criminal Minds, the precursor to Beyond Borders.
Tweeted Criminal Minds star Joe Mantegna: “Our Criminal Minds family has lost one of our own. RIP Shirley, you were a bright smile in our world.”

“Anyone who was lucky enough to know Shirley will miss her terribly,” Erica Messer, an executive producer on both shows, said in a statement. “She was a loving friend to all of us at Criminal Minds and Beyond Borders. We are especially sorry for her family’s loss of their beautiful daughter and sister.”
A spokesman for the network said CBS will include a card in her honor on the next original episode, scheduled for Wednesday night.
A native of Alaska, Weiss also worked on the shows 20/20, Eleventh Hour, The Forgotten and The Nine Lives of Chloe King.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
