Not even El Nino can keep Disneyland down.
Los Angeles theme parks Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm remained closed on Wednesday as rain storms around the area worsened, but Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood still have no plans to close. Both Six Flags and Knott’s have been shut down since Tuesday.
Six Flags announced its closure for Tuesday and Wednesday on its Twitter account, and a spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that the theme park posts closure information, decided daily “on a case-by-case basis.”
Knott’s Berry Farm on Wednesday issued a statement saying that the park is closed “due to inclement weather,” but “at this time the park will re-open tomorrow.” A spokesperson said that no special events had to be canceled so far due to storms.
Universal Studios “will remain open during the rainy season,” a spokesperson relayed on Wednesday, adding that the park has plans to accommodate guests in case of bad weather. The park is readying its long-anticipated Wizarding World of Harry Potter, due to launch in April.
Disneyland has also remained open through the rain. In fact, the park hasn’t closed due to bad weather since 1992, according to a Disney spokesperson, though it has occasionally had to adjust its hours because of rain. The spokesperson told THR this is because “there is plenty of things to do at the resort as many of our attractions and entertainment are indoors.”
The park is currently celebrating Star Wars Season of the Force, a series of attractions taking full advantage of the box-office hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Disney: Beyond the Parks, a TV special about Disneyland, is also set to air Wednesday night on Destination America.
