LONDON – The director of U.K. satcaster BSkyB’s female-targeted Living channel Jane Johnson is stepping down.
Johnson, the former editor of The Sun‘s Saturday edition and lifestyle magazine Closer, is quitting the satcaster to set up her own media consultancy.
Antonia Hurford-Jones, BSkyB’s commissioning editor for entertainment, will take the role of acting director of Sky Living.
A spokeswoman for BSkyB said over the weekend that Johnson decided to leave to set up a consultancy “bringing together her knowledge of TV, print and digital.”
In an internal memo to staff, Sky Entertainment Channels director Stuart Murphy said: “Jane leaves Sky Living with impressive stars signed up, including Rihanna, Rebecca Front, Benidorm writer Derren Litten and Love Machine’s Chris Moyles and Stacey Solomon.
Johnson, a former deputy editor at the News of the World, was hired in February last year to run Sky Living and its spin-off channels for the satcaster.
