Call it a gathering of rebels. Slash, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist-turned-solo artist and one of Los Angeles’ most famous longtime residents, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, July 10 and the speakers scheduled to honor the Sunset Strip icon include pals Charlie Sheen and veteran movie producer Robert Evans.
The ceremony is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Boulevard. Following the star dedication, Slash will perform a private acoustic performance and participate in a short Q&A with Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, who handles vocals on Slash’s just-released album, Apocalyptic Love.
A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Slash has been branching out to other artistic mediums in recent years, including scripted TV, various internet projects and the creation of Slasher Films a horror Film & TV production company. He was nominated for a seventh career Grammy award for his interpretation of The Godfather theme, from the soundtrack for the film The Kid Stays in the Picture, a documentary about his long-time friend Evans (who, as head of production at Paramount in the 1970s, worked on the Francis Ford Coppola classic along with such exalted films as Serpico and Harold and Maude).
Slash’s compositions can also be heard on several Quentin Tarantino films, including Jackie Brown and Curdled, along with box office blockbusters such as The Hulk, Terminator 2, Judgment Day and Big Daddy.
