With more than 5.8 million YouTube subscribers, Smosh Games has developed a loyal following of gaming enthusiasts. Now those fans can participate in the community with the Smosh Games Alliance.
The fan-driven community first started in 2013 is relaunching today with a redesigned YouTube channel and three new web series with the goal of providing a central place for Smosh Games fans to connect and collaborate with each other.
SGA will give members tutorials and tips on creating, building and growing their own YouTube channels and each week will highlight a different member within its programming. Members will also have access to exclusive contests and sweepstakes.
“Smosh Games has built an incredibly engaged and passionate audience of game enthusiasts and with the re-vamped SGA we can deepen the relationship with our fans,” said Barry Blumberg, head of content at Smosh owner Defy Media. “This initiative marks another important extension of the Smosh brand, which now boasts more than 33 million combined channel subscribers.”
SGA programming will be hosted by Amra Ricketts, aka Flitz, who is one of the core members of Smosh Games alongside Smosh founders Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox. The new series launching on SGA are Smosh University, which will air every other Tuesday with a glimpse into how videos for Smosh Games gets made; SGA Spotlight, a bi-monthly series that will feature a new SGA member in each episode; and SGA Live!, a weekly live stream of Ricketts and the Smosh Games team.
Smosh Games launched in 2012 as a spinoff of Padilla and Hecox’s Smosh channel.
