They may seem like an odd pairing, but Newt Gingrich and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi get along just fine.
The Jersey Shore star and the former Republican presidential candidate both appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show on Wednesday. Gingrich tweeted ahead of time about his excitement to meet his fellow guest, but Snooki is now admitting she had to Google Gingrich to find out who he was.
She added: “I guess his views? I don’t know any of his views.”
Gingrich’s wife, Callista, even got in on the new friendship, posting a picture of herself with Snooki and her husband on Instagram after the taping of the show.
This isn’t Snooki’s first time getting attention from the political elite. In 2010, Sen. John McCain tweeted support for Snooki, who had complained about President Barack Obama’s proposal to increase taxes on tanning salons.
Weeks later, after the MTV reality star was arrested for disorderly conduct, McCain weighed in during an interview, saying: “I kind of think she might be too good looking to go to jail.”
But despite all the GOP love, don’t expect Snooki to pledge allegiance to the Republican Party anytime soon.
“I’m an independent,” she told E!, saying she would “have to look into it more,” before deciding whom to vote for in the 2012 race.
It appears Snooki’s endorsement is still up for grabs. Your move, President Obama.
