Sofia Coppola’s latest project is adding another rising star: Addison Riecke, who stars on Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans.
Coppola wrote the script and will direct The Beguiled, a remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood classic, which centered on a wounded Union soldier who is taken into a Southern girls’ academy in Virginia. There, the desires of the lonely women set off a whirlwind of jealousy, hate and lust. It’s based on a novel by Thomas Cullinan.
The film has put together a strong cast with Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Colin Farrell and Angourie Rice attached to star. Farrell will play the soldier originally played by Eastwood, while Kidman, Fanning, Dunst and Rice will play residents at the academy. Riecke will play Marie.
Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola and Youree Henley are producing the film, while Fred Roos is executive producing. Focus will distribute the project, which is shooting this fall in Louisiana.
The Beguiled will be Riecke’s first major film project and is a big step for the young actress. She has starred on the Nickelodeon show The Thundermans for the past four seasons. Riecke is repped by Untitled, Savage Agency and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
