HONG KONG – Sony Pictures Television has sold U.S. talk show The Dr. Oz Show to seven countries in Asia Pacific, SPT senior VP, distribution Angel Orengo announced.
The Oprah Winfrey-endorsed talk show will be broadcast on free-to-air networks including Seven Network in Australia, TV3 in New Zealand, Brunei’s RTB2, Malaysia’s Hijrah TV, Indonesia’s B Channel, and Thailand’s TPBS starting from December 2010 to early 2011. Pay-TV channels Foxtel’s W Channel in Australia, and Korea’s ELLE atTV had also licensed the show. Subtitled versions in local languages will be shown in non-English speaking countries such as Indonesia.
The health-oriented and Daytime Emmy award-winning magazine show had been already picked up internationally in Croatia, Portugal, Moldova and latin America, while the program’s format had been adapted in China, Russia and Turkey. The Chinese-adapted version began its run earlier this year on Zhejiang Satellite TV.
