David Soul in Cuba - H 2013
Christopher P. BakerLONDON – Starsky & Hutch‘s David Soul is starring in Greg Atkins‘ documentary Cuban Soul, which focuses on the island state, its cars and Ernest Hemingway‘s time there.
The Hemingway-obsessed Soul is described by the filmmaker as a man on a mission to source the parts for and pioneer the restoration of Hemingway’s 1955 Chrysler New Yorker convertible, which the writer left behind when he left Cuba.
A Red Earth Studio production, directed by Atkins and produced by Jon Thompson at Pictures Worx Films, Cuban Soul aims to solve one of the many mysteries around Cuba: What happened to Ernest Hemingway’s car?
Also billed as an insight into contemporary Cuba since its embargo with the U.S. is on the brink of forthcoming irrevocable change, the documentary shoots until late November in Cuba, the U.S. and the U.K.
International sales are being handled through Picture Worx Films with Cuban Soul co-produced by Ces Terranova at Red Earth Studio.
Soul’s career spans 48 years, during which he has been an actor, director, producer, singer-songwriter, concert performer and social activist.
In addition to playing Hutch in Starsky & Hutch, Soul’s movie credits include outings in Magnum Force and Salem’s Lot.
He also has a cameo in Filth, the Scottish-set British indie film starring James McAvoy.
