The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau is looking into charges that Stephen Collins exposed himself to an underage girl, a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The allegation was first reported to the Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, and was forwarded to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for investigation. The victim, who was 13 years old at the time of the incident, reported the event that occurred in the summer of 1983,” the LASD said in a statement. “Special Victims Bureau detectives are working with New York Police Department authorities on this case.”

In Los Angeles county, West Hollywood is covered by the Sheriff’s Department, not LAPD.
TMZ first broke the news about the new charge. NYPD is currently investigating the child abuse case, which it was first alerted to in 2012. In 2012 LAPD opened and closed an investigation because no victim could be found.
The former 7th Heaven star has been at the center of controversy since an audio recording surfaced last week in which Collins allegedly admits to molesting young girls.
The news comes eight days after TMZ posted the audio online, reporting that it was secretly recorded by Collins’ estranged wife, Faye Grant, during a therapy session in 2012. The two are entrenched in a divorce which has been going on for 30 months.
In the recording, the man whose voice is identified as Collins’ admits to having inappropriate sexual contact with three young girls.
At one point, Grant allegedly asked Collins: “When you exposed yourself to [name redacted]’s 10-year-old sister, did you have an erection?”
He replied: “No, I mean, no. Partial, maybe I think.”
Collins allegedly added that “the exposure happened a couple of times” when the girl — who sources say is a relative of Collins’ first wife, Marjorie Weinman — was between the ages 11 and 13. He says: “There was one moment of touching where her hand, I put her hand on my penis.” He also admitted there had been two other girls with whom he’d had inappropriate sexual contact.
