Steve-O is going to jail.
The former Jackass star was sentenced Wednesday to 30 days behind bars stemming from a stunt in which he climbed a construction crane in Hollywood to raise awareness of the treatment of animals at SeaWorld.
In addition, Steve-O, born Stephen Glover, got 36 months of probation, $500 in fines and was ordered to stay out of the Hollywood Entertainment District, according to Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the L.A. City Attorney’s Office.
Steve-O pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts — fireworks and trespassing — resulting from his Aug. 9 stunt in which he attracted a massive emergency response when he shot fireworks off the top of a crane in the 6000 block of West Selma Avenue.
He was originally charged with one count each of creating a false emergency, use of unregistered fireworks, storing fireworks without a permit, possession of fireworks without a permit and trespassing.
As a further term of his probation, Steve-O cannot “engage in, or participate in any way, in any staged fight in public, feigned medical emergency, or any other non-approved or non-permitted stunt or prank in public reasonably likely to elicit an emergency response from police, fire or rescue personnel, within the County of Los Angeles,” according to Mateljan.
He will surrender for his 30 days behind bars on Dec. 9, Mateljan said.
Steve-O posted a long message on his Instagram account, saying he was happy to serve time if it helped raise awareness to his cause.
“Considering I’ve become a clean and sober, dog-rescuing vegan, I must say I’m ready to go to jail — not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it’s nice to let people know I haven’t lost my edge,” he said in the social media post. “What can I say, I’m a jackass. I mean, if your goal is to make a statement about captivity, you may as well get yourself locked up.”
