John Williams is this year’s recipient of AFI’s lifetime achievement award. Steven Spielberg will be on hand at the private gala tribute at the Dolby Theatre on June 9 to present.
Spielberg and Williams have worked on 25 titles together, from Raiders of the Lost Ark to Jurassic Park. Williams has won Oscars for the scores he composed for Spielberg’s Jaws, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and Schindler’s List.
He will be the first composer to receive the AFI honor.
AFI Lifetime Achievement Award: A Tribute to John Williams is set to air June 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TNT.
